favors, cameras, & napkins, oh my!

so i know some people who are getting married in the near future and i've had wedding on the brain because of this.  and lately i've been thinking about how hard it is to think of favors & centerpieces, especially when you want to move away from the traditional candy-coated almonds wrapped in tulle and big floral arrangments.  or maybe it's because my expertise in this area is severely lacking .  so i've done some googling and other searching and browsing and one of the sites i've come across
, theknot, has wedding reception ideas with some pretty cute stuff, like personalized bud vases (i didn't even know what those were until i saw them on this site) and initial cake toppers (instead of the traditional figurines--of which, by the way, have any of you seen any Asian?), and even garters (woo-hoo).  it's cool because this website also has a planning section & info for the wedding party (like bridsmaids & groomsmen).  so yeah.  any of yous getting married or know people who are or who are in a wedding party, that's another resource to look at and use to collect ideas

  • i love the knot! i've been scoping out some stuff after my initial wedding rush and of course, when you start looking, you start planning and i'm all set. i'm such a dork.

  • u know i'm embarassed to admit it, but i have absolutely NO idea what you're talking about :( and clicking on your link is the first time i've ever come across that page before. so with that said, i'm not the best person to be give advice or insight on this stuff. any hint of wedding on the brain was easily pushed out of my head :) sorry. but i can definately ask around.

  • I've heard of many engagements in my sister's class...hrmmmm.  These youngins are beating me to it!  ^_~

i have not gone here yet, but have also heard of weddingbee.com :)
I think theknot also has a magazine.

  • My sister sweared by the knot. In fact, she's helping a friend with her wedding this year and is once again glued to that site.
