i am pack rat.
one of the bad things about hoarding mementos is that you run out of places to keep them. also, somethings, you look at something and forget why the hell you kept it in the first place. maybe i should start writing a little note for the things i want to keep--that way i'll have a reminder later and i won't bother to go through all that trouble with things i don't really need to keep. man. moving into a technically bigger, but ultimately smaller space really forces you to figure out what you need, want, and should get rid off.
sorting through the memories.
so i found this little pekkle tin lunch box. it's baby blue and, besides a few dings, is in pretty great condition because it's spent most of it's time stored in a box with other paraphenilia. in it are letters from robelene and alan. more from the former than the latter--mondo more--with some dating all the way back to the mid-90s. that's a long time. apparently, rob was yogi and i was booboo. it's amazing how much you forget/tuck far into the recesses of your memories. reading those letters served as a reminder of how things, people, i used to be and how much some things are still the same. it's funny how even a half-sheet of writing can trigger the synapses to the things you'd forgotten years ago.
the same thing happened when i started looking through this winnie the pooh gift bag that i use to store keepstakes from my relationship with louie. he brought me yogurt in that bag--i believe they were strawberry banana, pina colada, and maybe peach--after i had my wisdom teeth pulled out. there was a whole bunch of stuff in there: candy wrappers, an empty ricola bag, dozens of movie tickets, part of a kleenex box (the first kleenex box for our apartment, i believe), letters, doodles, pokemon bubble gum wrappers. it's funny because some of the things in there, i don't know the when or where or why, but they still mean something because they meant something. isn't that odd?
pictures are a girls best friend.
we'll let that one sit for a while. let's just say that i have wallets of certain people that date all the way back to junior high school. ::cackle, cackle, cackle::

funny how u and alan are pack rats, but then again it's also funny how at around the same time u guys found a bunch of stuff from way back...yeah things have changed so much since then...but i got your message, i'll call ya after work.
HAHA! Yeay pack rats!
i agree with robelene, kwitho. it's kindof weird how we both ended up stumbling upon our old letters and stuff. i still have this coca cola tin that has the wrapper of the first snack robelene had at my house: a strawberry fruit roll up, a whole bunch of straws and napkins from places we ate at the first time, and even that old super soaker keychain that chris and i used to annoy everyone with...ahhh, the memories :)
clean sweep clean sweep!! bring out hte bins baby!! haha
super soaker keychains!!!
Man, I guess I'm a packrat too, but now that I've been looking at some of the stuff in a massive clean-up project, I just realized that maybe I just forgot to throw things away.
Within a week or so of dedicated cleaning, I should be clear of all my cluttery crap. I must say though, I did find some prize writings in letters and old high school english writings. I'm gonna post one of the letters I found on my blog shortly, when I have the time.
i too am a collector, i moved from a 4 bdrm house to a 2 bdrm flat and you can imagine the sentimental treasures i had
i could not decide what to keep or throw away so i put what couldn't fit in the flat into boxes and stored them, that was 18 months ago lol.
Say yes, YES to PACK-RATism! I just resumed work on the Dennis & Grace scrapbook and the "Grace, The Childhood Years" album so I had to bust out the box of goodies I squirreled away: original (and graded!) copy of the poem I "wooed" Dennis with, Medieval Times crown from Grad Nite, drawings for prom dresses, gold foil wrapper from Austrian marzipan chocolate from when my cousin went to Germany/Austria in junior high, countless movie and concert tickets, MUNI ticket from going to Castro for Halloween 2000...
Sorting through all the stuff, you inevitably create a material history for yourself and others. I think that's a beautiful thing.
Keeping on hoarding!
==) Memories are the best arnt they.... well, the good ones are hahaha
i actually watch an episode of a show called birth day where they show u delivering babies.. lol.. and it was a girl that has biconuate uterus.. anyways my sister-in-law already has 4 kids they have been trying and every time she gets pregnant she gets a miscarriage..
